The same home-made candies since the 19th century.

At Pastisseria la Colmena we make home-made candies since 1849, when they were made in the front door by Rosendo Abella. The production process remains the same, and we make them from essential oils except the honey ones.

Nowadays we make 18 flavors. Herbs: thyme, fennel, marshmallow, lavender, rosemary, mint, anise, pine and eucalyptus. Fruit: strawberry, currant, pomegranate, lemon, orange and pineapple. And those of vanilla, coffee and honey.

We wrap our candies by hand one by one. The wrapper consists of two papers, a paraffined inside to prevent them from sticking, and the outside where the flavor is indicated. Those that carry red paper are the variants that are made from the origins of Pastisseria La Colmena. The ones with blue paper were added later, but it’s been over 50 years.
